The short version. Monthly plans roll month to month and stop with 30 days’ notice. Everything you pay for is labelled. Paying never buys a review, an Editor’s Pick or control over what our editors write.
Who you are dealing with
Every title in Local Publisher is published by Byter Ltd (company number 11372197, registered in England and Wales, registered office 33 Cavendish Square, London W1G 0PW). Your agreement is with Byter Ltd. These terms apply alongside the written proposal you accept, and the proposal wins where the two differ.
What you get
- Featured Partner: a Partner badge on your listing, placement at the top of your category, a photo gallery, your booking link, and a mention when you have news worth sharing, on each title you book.
- Sponsored articles: one article written by our editors from a brief and a visit or call, published on the date agreed and kept online for at least 12 months.
- Newsletter, social and event promotion: as set out in your proposal, on the dates agreed.
Prices, titles and dates are in your proposal. Prices exclude VAT, which is added at the standard rate.
Labelling
Every paid listing, article, newsletter slot and post is marked as sponsored, as an advert or with the Partner badge, as the CAP Code requires. We will not remove a label, and we will not publish paid content that pretends to be independent.
Editorial independence
- Reviews, Editor’s Picks and “best of” lists are chosen by our editors alone and cannot be bought.
- A Partner can be left out of a list it does not belong in, and our editors may write about you, good or bad, as they would about anyone.
- You see a sponsored article before it goes live and can correct facts. The title’s editors have the final say on wording and style.
Your content
You confirm that you own, or have permission to use, the photos, logos and text you send us, and that what you tell us about your business is accurate. You give us permission to use them in your listing and the content you book, for as long as it stays online. You can ask us to replace an image or correct a fact at any time.
Billing and cancelling
- Monthly plans are paid in advance each month by card or direct debit and roll on until cancelled.
- Cancel any time with 30 days’ notice by emailing hello@localpublisher.co.uk. The Partner badge and placement end at the end of the paid period. Your free listing stays.
- A founding or introductory price stays fixed for the period stated in your proposal while the plan runs without a break.
- One-off items are paid when you accept the proposal. If we cannot publish on the agreed date, we agree a new date or refund you in full.
- If a payment fails and is not settled within 14 days, we may pause paid features until it is.
Content we will not run
We can turn down any booking that is misleading, unlawful, or that our readers would not trust. That includes content that breaks the CAP Code, and anything that targets children with alcohol, gambling or similar products. If we refuse a booking you have paid for, we refund it in full.
Our responsibility
We will deliver what we agreed with reasonable skill and care. We do not promise a number of bookings, visits or sales. Where something we agreed does not run, our liability is limited to rerunning it or refunding what you paid for it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Your data
We use your contact details to run your booking and to send you invoices and reports. See our privacy notice.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
